Located in the heart of what is known as Seattle's Eastside, Redmond is an award winning city in a pristine setting. Redmond and neighboring Bellevue serve as the Eastside's commercial and retail centers as well as the hub for the always-expanding business climate that attracts traditional commerce and entrepreneurs of all types.
Redmond offers many entertainment resources, including the Redmond Town Center, which contains over 100 shops, several restaurants, live theater, and world-class hotels. In addition, Redmond is known for having more than 20 parks, spanning more than 1,000 acres of open space with 17 miles of trails for walking, biking, inline skating, and horseback riding.
Marymoor Park is particularly well-known, with its 45-foot-high climbing wall, a model-airplane flying circuit, lighted sports fields, dog park, summer concerts, and its famous Velodrome. The park is connected to The Sammamish River Trail, a 10.5 mile paved trail that ends in Bothell and then runs into the Burke Gilman Trail, which goes another 18.8 miles and ends at Shilshole Bay in Seattle.
Within the City of Redmond are 10 distinct neighborhoods. The Downtown and Overlake neighborhoods contain Redmond's two urban centers. The Bear Creek, Sammamish Valley, Southeast Redmond, and Willows / Rose Hill neighborhoods include a variety of land uses such as business parks, industrial and manufacturing, and residential. The remaining neighborhoods of Education Hill, Grass Lawn, Idylwood, and North Redmond predominantly include residential land uses. There are several more neighborhoods in Redmond located in unincorporated King County including Union Hill and Novelty Hill. The majority of Redmond is located in the Lake Washington school district with a small part to the east in Riverview school district, a small part to the northeast in the Northshore school district and a small part to the southeast in the Snoqualmie Valley school district.
Redmond is served by State Routes 520, 908 and 202, providing Redmond residents with quick access to the Eastside communities of Bellevue and Kirkland as well as the SR 520 bridge for the commute into Seattle. SR 520 also connects with Interstate 405, which runs along the east bank of Lake Washington. Interstate 405 connects with Interstate 5 in Renton to the south and Lynnwood in the north.
